I've almost finished converting all "The Community" code over to attachments. It's almost, if not all 100% attachment-based, aka plug-and-play, with no existing script modification. Not that anyone cares, I just find it to be an incredibly useful tool.

Your lack of faith regarding how much we care disturbs me.

This may be a stupid question, but it's not possible for a client to attach to a server's remote function or vice versa, right?

Hard to understand lol.. You don't know what remote functions server holds in memory. You only know yours, and you can attach to any one of them because remote functions are same as normal functions except they start with "remote", and they can be executed by the engine in a special way that makes them remote.

I was making sure that the client can't attach to a function called on the server.

I think the answer is no, but I just wanted to make sure.

Client and server can only attach to local functions. If the function exists locally, it can be attached to. For example, the remoteConsole handles input using an attachment on the remoteSay() function. The user types into chat, and if the remoteConsole is enabled, it eval()'s the text passed, and halts the remoteSay() so the text doesn't go thru the existing remoteSay() function, which would pass it thru the chatHud. I'm not going to post an example for the client, since it can be used for nefarious reasons.

Umm.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you just posted enough information to instruct anyone whose ever seen Worstaim's crash pack, or his crash protection pack, to write the nefarious script you just described?

No. Not sure where that came from. What I was talking about was lasthope related, but doesn't really matter with 1.40.

Not that anyone cares, but I found some minor issues with halting. Fixed those vaness up ( hopefully ). I'm almost ready to commit these changes to The Community. Then I'll probably re-release the new attachment plugin, and the DoSFix update.

Downloaded and archived...

I'll probably install it tomorrow (which is actually today, considering it's past 2AM).

Nice

Except plas, is anybody going to code something serious in the near future using attachments? Just wondering...
I am out of ideas what to code to bring more life to Tribes... Though I miss Tribes coding.

Probably not. Like I said, I don't care. The entire Community DMT code-base uses them, but that was for my own purposes.

I've already started converting my mod that I never finished over to attachments... LOL

I'm also attempting to write a few client side scripts using attachments.

One of the scripts is for taking screenshots... Since my screen resolution is 1366x768, my screenshots have a bit of a lean on them... So I'm attaching a function before screenshot() to switch to windowed mode, and another function after screenshot() to switch back to fullscreen.

I just need to figure out what the commands for switching to and from fullscreen are...
