I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this, but as it has the original TribesDoSFix program as a sticky, and I also found a post about x64 DoSFix, figured it was the best place.

I use to mod Shifter in the very late period (worked with Killa with ShifterK and created 2K4, 2K5). Figured I'd wanna bring up a server or two back, as EliteRenegades is close, but no cigar for me. Anyways...

I have the TribesDoSFix.exe and it use to work wonders, minimized my cmd window and such. I noticed that it won't work at all with Windows 7 (Probably not with Vista either). I searched the forums around here and realized there is some plugin now. Where can I get this DoSFix plugin at? Does the plugin also minimize the cmd window? (I hope so)? I saw a post where NoFix posted like version 10 and such but all those links seem to be dead. I have tried searching for a good hour on these forums but didn't find anything. It doesn't help that when I click next page it makes me wait a few minutes (could be my chrome auto pager plugins).

Also is there anything else I need to know before running a server 24/7?

I already got it pinging on the new master servers after your very helpful linksys port forwarding. I am thinking about running a few servers on a dedicated debian linux server I own. I am sure linux won't be pretty. I hate linux networking, but I'll figure it out. I know that infinite spawn doesn't play nice with wine and it's easier to make a BASH script, which I can do.

Hey fellas this is {TXM}-Longhorn-


We have several people trying to get the community involved in a Ladder. This attempt is to try unite this tribes community and organized game play.

So far we have several clans and non clan players wanting to participate. This will not be a clan vs clan per say, but Ladder teams with a draft.

As a few of you may of heard there is a new Ren MOD about to be released and the Ren community would like to invite you all to join in on this new venture. As of now there are a few clan leaders all trying to communicate and organize this event. At some point here soon we will have sign ups and soon to follow a draft for teams.

As of now we use the SKB and MI6 forum. We mainly use the SKB forum because for many years now SKB has had an monopoly on the Ren servers, but that is going to change. About 95% of the Ren community plays in SKB so we use the forum to keep it simple for the non clan and returning old school players.

I have the nvidia tnt2(I know, old), and 1.40 crashes when refreshing the server list or mission change, but it's pretty random. With 1.30 it crashes when look up with the flag, and when I use the Shocking Grasp weapon (but only on the br server. Works fine in Land of Oz).

I've never, EVER played CTF in any games other than the Tribes series, since defense is always more effective than offense. Tribes balances the two by making it possible for somebody to come in and grab the flag when four people are defending.

Tactics. While it wouldn't have made a lot of sense to have team-specific weapons (I would have LOVED the shoulder-mounted missile rack the Blood Eagles have) in a balanced, multiplayer-based FPS, it would have definitely been a valid weapon.

Ever play Reality Bites? There were two instant-kill melee weapons. Cattle Prod and Lance. Players got just as many kills with those as they did with ranged weapons.

It's a matter of dodging capabilities. A gun requires a precise, steady aim. An enemy suddenly flying upwards or jumping to the side would effectively slash your chances of getting a kill shot. A sword, on the other hand, has a large effective radius. You don't have to aim when your target isn't trying to parry the blade. Could easily just dodge shots and slice your enemy's head off with a sword.


In close combat, Swords > Knives > Guns. In mobile combat, Swords = Guns > Knives.
Firearms only have the advantage when the target is outside of 8 feet and not moving quickly.

I don't believe I've ever used nVidia. It's always been either an ATI card or integrated Intel chips. Always had crashes in 1.0-1.31 during the game (especially when playing in software mode or editing in openGL). Always had crashes in 1.40.655 during mission change, but never during gameplay nor editor mode.

I just had a funny mental image of 2Strong and Anubis standing over their respective countries on a large map... 2strong cuts the border of Portugal around Anubis with a saw, but the rest of the map falls down like in a cartoon and only Anubis and the tiny country of Portugal remain...

Yeah Tribes works steadily always on my computer when I run with my OpenGL and other configs.
No reason to randomly crash.
